Willow cuttings

We grow 25 different varieties of willow on our smallholding in Caerphilly which we offer for sale. We mainly sell willow cuttings for basketry but they can also be grown for great winter colour.

Willow should be planted between December and March and orders received after mid January will be dispatched every Monday/Tuesday. Orders can be placed from September, the leaves will drop from the willow in early December and then your cuttings will be sent out early January. Willow cuttings are sold in bundles of 10 and are 30cm/12in long and should be planted through weed suppressant material.

The willow will then need to be coppiced once a year between December and February and can be used fresh but will shrink once it dries. Willow will take 3 months to dry and once dry can be used for basketry. To become pliable the dried willow rods can be soaked in water a day per foot for brown willow.

Further details of the different varieties can be found on our Willow page.

Pre-orders for the 2023/2024 season are now open.
Best wishes
Sarah

** Due to complex exporting rules willow cuttings are only sold in the UK mainland including Scottish Islands, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isles of Scilly but NOT Northern Ireland, sorry.
