Get into the festive spirit on this one-day Christmas crafts and willow weaving workshop near Cardiff, South Wales.

Using natural willow and seasonal decorations, you will make a willow Christmas tree, a willow star and a festive Christmas wreath to display in your home throughout the Christmas season.

This Christmas wreath making and willow weaving workshop welcomes beginners. It also welcomes those with some experience of working with willow. You can join even if you have never worked with willow before. Working in a small, friendly group, you will learn traditional willow weaving and basketry techniques. You will use these skills to create beautiful handmade Christmas crafts and decorations.

You will decorate your wreath with seasonal materials including pine cones, holly, cinnamon and ribbon. Sarah will guide you through each project step by step, helping you create Christmas decorations that will bring festive cheer to your home year after year.

The workshop takes place at Nantgarw China Works Museum near Cardiff, providing a unique setting in which to learn an ancient craft. You will take home everything you make at the end of the day.

The workshop takes place at Nantgarw China Works Museum, near Cardiff. Directions and joining instructions will be emailed shortly before the course.

£90 per person payable by Stripe, PayPal, bank transfer or cheque.

Tutor

Sarah Hatton is a skilled willow grower, basket maker and Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers. Based in Caerphilly, she cultivates 25 varieties of willow on her smallholding and teaches traditional basketry, willow weaving and creative sculpture using her sustainably grown materials.

Her high-profile commissions include willow baskets presented to world leaders at the NATO summit and sculpture for the National Trust. Sarah’s courses are warm, practical and welcoming, helping students build confidence and enjoy working creatively with willow.

Terms of Cancellation

If you are unable to attend a course please let us know as soon as possible.

• If a cancellation is made 28 days or more before the course start date then a full refund will be given.
• If a cancellation is made between 28 days and 14 days before the course start date and we are able to allocate your place to another student, then a full refund will be given. In the event that we are unable to allocate your place to another student, no refund will be given.
• If a cancellation is made less than 14 days before the course start date then no refund will be given.
