Join a festive Christmas wreath workshop near Cardiff and craft your own unique decoration. In this hands-on course, you will weave a sturdy willow base using homegrown willow. Then, decorate it with greenery, holly, ivy, pine cones, cinnamon sticks, and dried orange slices. Add ribbons or other details to make your wreath personal. Description

Celebrate the festive season with a Christmas wreath course that combines tradition and creativity. You will first learn to weave a strong willow base and secure it step by step with my guidance. Then, together we will shape and finish your wreath, ensuring it looks both balanced and long-lasting.

Once the base is complete, you can decorate with fresh greenery, holly, ivy, pine cones, cinnamon sticks, and dried orange slices. In addition, ribbons and other touches let you personalise your design. As a result, each wreath becomes a handcrafted piece you can proudly hang at home or give as a thoughtful festive gift.

Time

The course runs for 2 hours and there are spaces between 10am – 12pm, 12:30pm – 2:30pm and 3pm – 5pm.

Location

The workshop takes place at Nantgarw China Works Museum, near Cardiff. Directions and joining instructions will be emailed shortly before the course.

Price

£40 per person payable by Stripe, Paypal, bank transfer or by cheque.

Tutor

Sarah Hatton, founder of Hatton Willow, is a skilled basket weaver with many years of experience in traditional crafts. She is also a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers, an honour that reflects her commitment to the craft. Sarah grows her own willow and creates beautiful, handcrafted baskets and woven pieces.

Over the years, she has completed large-scale projects, including seventy gift baskets for world leaders at the NATO Summit in Newport. In 2015, she won the Craft Showcase Award at Made by Hand, Cardiff. Her work has appeared at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark, and at the United Nations in Geneva.

As a tutor, Sarah brings enthusiasm and patience to every workshop. She guides students through each stage of the weaving process. Her courses combine traditional skills with creativity, making them both inspiring and enjoyable for beginners and advanced makers.

Terms of cancellation

If you are unable to attend a course please let me know as soon as possible.

  • If a cancellation is made 28 days or more before the course start date then a full refund will be given.
  • If a cancellation is made between 28 days and 14 days before the course start date and we are able to allocate your place to another student, then a full refund will be given. In the event that we are unable to allocate your place to another student, no refund will be given.
  • If a cancellation is made less than 14 days before the course start date then no refund will be given.
