Christmas wreath course


On this course you will make the wreath using different coloured varieties of fresh willow grown on my smallholding in Caerphilly. You will then decorate the wreath using fresh embellishment such as ivy and holly cut from hedgerows. Also with bows, pine cones, cinnamon and orange slices to give a delicious Christmas smell every time you enter your home.

Make a Christmas wreath to display in your home over the festive season.
This course will include different techniques of willow weaving and basket making. We will make a wreath decorated with pine cones, holly, cinnamon and ribbon.
You will have a wonderful day in a beautiful setting learning an ancient craft.

This course is £25 payable by Paypal, bank transfer or by cheque. The course lasts for 2 hours. The courses on 4th December are held in Radyr, Cardiff, the courses on 5th December will be held in Nantgarw China Works Museum, Cardiff.

All materials and tools are provided and you take home everything you make. Please bring any refreshments and snacks with you.

Sarah Hatton, the course tutor, has been willow weaving since 2008. She has been involved in many large scale projects, most recently producing 70 gift baskets for the World Leaders attending the NATO Summit in Newport. Sarah was awarded the Craft Showcase Award 2015 at Made by Hand, Cardiff. She grows her own willow in Caerphilly which gives her a yearlong sustainable source of willow.
Guided by your tutor Sarah she will take you through the course step by step and will make sure that you go home with something you are proud of.

Coronavirus update
The courses on the 4th December are restricted to 10 people per course. The courses on the 5th December are restricted to 6 people per course. This gives us plenty of space to social distance in the workshop at Radyr and Nantgarw China Works Museum. Masks or visors will need to be worn at all times when in the workshop and regular hand washing will be required.

If the Welsh Government says that educational services cannot continue the course will be cancelled. Everyone booked onto the course will be given a refund in full.

If you are unable to attend a course please let us know as soon as possible.

  • If a cancellation is made 28 days or more before the course start date then a full refund will be given.
  • If a cancellation is made between 28 days and 14 days before the course start date and we are able to allocate your place to another student, then a 50% refund will be given. In the event that we are unable to allocate your place to another student, no refund will be given.
  • If a cancellation is made less than 14 days before the course start date then no refund will be given.
