This rectangular zarzo basket was devised using the technique to make platters for the table in Northern Spain. Made with the Leicestershire dicks and Flanders Red varieties of willow grown and made by Sarah Hatton in Caerphilly. There are many uses for this basket including as a handbag but also as a basket for kindling.
Sarah Hatton started willow weaving in 2008. Sarah is passionate about the heritage craft of willow weaving and cares deeply about the quality and durability of the pieces that she creates. These high quality baskets have come from years of repetition and practice. When Sarah planted her own willow she realised that she could have a sustainable source of willow. She uses her own 26 varieties of different colours alongside willow from Somerset.
I am now taking orders for Christmas. Any orders taken will be sent out regularly up to the end of November 2021. It is best to order as soon as possible as I will close the ability to order when I get to a certain limit.
